• Seán Penston

    Seán Penston works in Facilities Management in Healthcare. He holds B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Studies.

    He lives in Arklow and has a strong attachment to his local environment and its flora and fauna and because of this he became involved with The Rivers Trust to contribute to improving and enhancing our water courses and their surroundings.

  • Anne Newton

    Anne Newton holds a BSc and MSc in zoology (Trinity) and a PhD on Shetland seabirds (Glasgow).

    Post-doctoral research on Scottish corncrakes and dippers was followed by a stint in Arabia working on vultures and juniper cloud forests.

    Back home in Ireland she worked as an environmental consultant, before children, and now proof-reads and edits environmental reports, while maintaining a productive organic garden and small holding.

  • Michael Keegan

    Michael has been a farmer all his life, farming experience includes intensive cattle, tillage, poultry and sheep production systems. He has been Farm Manager at Luggala Estate Ltd since 2020.

    Michael is the current chairperson of Wicklow Uplands Council and also the current chairperson of Enniskerry IFA.

    He is experienced in deer stalking/management and delivery of on the ground works associated with landscape scale environmental restoration projects.

  • Albert Mahon

    Albert is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and currently serves as a financial controller in the movie industry.

    He previously spent 20 years in public practice at one of Ireland’s top 10 accounting and auditing firms.

    Before that, he worked in the agriculture sector both locally and internationally, where he developed a strong interest in environmental conservation and natural resource preservation.

  • Angus Woods

    Angus Woods is a full-time beef, sheep and tillage farmer from Wicklow with 35 years experience in the sector. He is currently in his second year of conversion into organic farming.

    He has considerable experience representing farmers both locally, and in Brussels, where he was elected President of the EU Civil Dialogue for Animal Products. He has served on the Meat and Livestock board of Bord Bia, as well as on the Board of ICBF (Irish Cattle Breeding Federation). He was also elected Chairman of the IFA Livestock Committee.

    He was recently appointed by the Minister for Agriculture to the Board of the newly established Agri Food Regulator, and is a weekly columnist in the Farming Independent for the last 3 Years. He enjoys rowing and canoeing in his spare time.
