We collect this information only in connection with specific activities, such as project registration, newsletter sign ups and feedback forms. We will only keep personal information for as long as we need it in order to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and for so long as we consider may be required to deal with any questions or complaints that we may receive about our relevant activities, unless we elect to retain the personal data for a longer period to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We review the personal data we hold on a regular basis. If we conclude that certain personal data is no longer needed, that personal data is destroyed.

Unsubscribing from Communications

When submitting your personal information, you will be given the option not to be included in mailings from The East Wicklow Rivers Trust (whether by post, e-mail or other electronic messaging, or telephone). Who to contact about your personal data

If you wish to see your personal data, exercise any of the rights mentioned above or make a complaint about how we have handled your personal data, please email info@wicklowrivers.ie

We encourage you to let us know if your personal information changes or if you think the personal information we hold about you is out of date.

Your request should include the following:

  1. A statement that the request is being made under the General Data Protection Regulation

  2. As much information as possible about the subject matter of the access request

  3. In what format you wish to receive any records released (e.g. photocopies or electronically)

Proof of ID is required to process subject access requests, e.g. driver’s license or passport.

Response time to a subject access request

Your access request will be acknowledged within five working days. A response to your request will be given no later than a month of receipt of the request. The one-month period may be extended by two further months, where necessary, taking into account the complexity and number of requests. In this case, East Wicklow Rivers Trust will inform you of any extension within one month of receipt of the request and the reasons for the delay.

If East Wicklow Rivers Trust does not take action after your request, the Trust must inform you without delay and, at the latest, within one month of receipt of your request, of:

  • The reasons for not taking action;

  • Your right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority and seek a judicial remedy.

Cost of submitting a subject access request

Your request will be dealt with free of charge. However, where requests from a data subject are considered ‘manifestly unfounded or excessive’ (for example where an individual continues to make unnecessary repeated requests or the problems associated with identifying one individual from a collection of data are too great) the Trust may:

  • Charge a reasonable fee, taking into account the administrative costs of providing the information/ taking the action requested; or

  • Refuse to act on your request.

Where East Wicklow Rivers Trust refuses to respond to an access request or to charge a fee on this basis, the Trust will bear the burden of demonstrating the unfounded or excessive character of the request.
